Reconnect to yourself and others
Trauma Therapy
Online therapy in Texas for women ready to understand the past, heal old wounds, and change the patterns they’re still carrying.
THE PAST HAS A WAY OF SHOWING UP IN THE PRESENT
Maybe you’ve told yourself, “It wasn’t that bad.” You’ve moved on, built a life, and learned how to function. But sometimes your reactions today feel bigger than the moment in front of you.
That doesn’t mean something is wrong with you. Sometimes your mind and body are responding to what they learned a long time ago.
Maybe you’re struggling with…
→ Not remembering much of your childhood
You know things happened, but parts of your childhood feel blurry or hard to access.
→ You’re safe now, but your body doesn’t always believe it
You can know logically that everything is okay and still feel on edge.
→ Your relationships bring out versions of you that you don’t always understand
You might people-please, pull away, cling tighter, shut down, become defensive, or feel terrified of disappointing someone.
→ Your emotions can go from 0 to 100 or disappear completely
Sometimes you feel everything intensely. Other times, you go numb, disconnect, or struggle to know what you’re feeling at all.
→ Avoidance has become a way of protecting yourself
You avoid certain conversations, feelings, memories, or situations because opening that door feels like it might be too much.
How therapy for childhood trauma works.
You may understand your childhood intellectually. You know what happened, you’ve thought about why your caretakers were the way they were, and maybe you’ve even told yourself, “They did the best they could.”
But understanding something doesn’t mean your mind and body stopped carrying it.
Together, we’ll get curious about what you learned about yourself, relationships, and what you had to do to feel safe or loved. We’ll notice how those old experiences still show up today, without judging the ways you learned to protect yourself.
Helping the past feel like the past
Healing isn’t about blaming your family or spending forever talking about the past. It’s about helping your system recognize that what was true then doesn’t have to be true now.
Using attachment-focused and experiential therapy, parts work, and EMDR when appropriate, we can work with these experiences rather than only understanding them intellectually.
The goal is for the past to become something you remember, not something you keep having to relive through your relationships, your reactions, or the way you see yourself.
Therapy for childhood trauma can help.
✓ Understanding how your early experiences shaped you and the beliefs you learned about yourself, other people, and what it takes to feel safe or calm.
✓ Recognizing the patterns you learned to protect yourself like people-pleasing, shutting down, staying hyper-independent, over functioning, or constantly anticipating other people’s needs.
✓ Processing experiences that still feel emotionally unfinished so the past doesn’t keep getting activated in your present relationships and reactions.
✓ Building safer, more secure relationships where you can have needs, tolerate vulnerability, trust others, and feel connected without losing yourself.
✓ Developing a more compassionate relationship with yourself so you can respond to the parts of you that still feel scared, ashamed, angry, or not good enough with more compassion and less criticism.
